What Causes Erectile Dysfunction?
Most erectile dysfunction is caused by physical changes which affect nerve impulses and blood flow to the penis.
Estimates vary but it is generally agreed between 75 and 90 per cent of all erectile dysfunction (ED)stems from physical causes.
Even a very small reduction in blood flow to the penis can cause erectile dysfunction, because the penile blood vessels are very fine and act as an “early warning system” for declining function.
Age-related health problems which can affect blood flow and nerve response can cause ED include:
- High cholesterol
- Poor circulation
- Low testosterone
- Being over weight
