Tribulus terrestris “is one of the few supplements that consistently provide positive results in the realm of sexual function and libido,” according to the Livestrong website, which credits the tribulus herb with enhancing sexual function and increasing muscle mass.
Two key ways tribulus works for ED include:
- Increasing blood flow to the penis
- Elevating testosterone levels
In his book Natural Sex Boosters Dr Ray Sahelian says tribulus “seems to work by relaxing blood flow into the corpus cavernosum (the spongy cavity in the penis)
“The relaxant effect observed is probably due to the increase in the release of nitric oxide from the endothelium (the thin layer of flattened cells that lines blood vessels) and nerve endings” Dr Sahelian says.
Tribulus and Testosterone
Bulgarian and Russian tribulus studies suggest tribulus can also work on the hormonal system, releasing testosterone and DHEA, a testosterone precursor associated with slowing down aging, increasing immunity, and improving mood and memory.
Tribulus is also a key ingredient in Herbal Ignite, an erectile dysfunction supplement that has been used successfully by thousands of Australian and New Zealand men over the last 14 years.
Studies have shown it also increases sperm production and motility, so is also used for treating infertility.
