Men with Type 2 diabetes are more than ten per cent likely to also face erectile dysfunction than men with Type 1 diabetes. (One study showed 46 per cent of men with Type 2 had ED, compared with 32 per cent of men with Type 1)
The underlying causes of the two diseases are very similar, with insulin resistance – suffered by diabetics – being very similar to metabolic syndrome or Syndrome X.
Men with Type 2 diabetes have high levels of insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome.
